28th August 1988. Belgian circuit of Ronse, better known as Renaix. Maurizio Fondriest, a very young promise of Italian cycling, wins the title of Road World Champion at just 23 years old, after just one season among the “pros”!

A name that inspired the launch of the Ronse road bike model last July 3rd at Eurobike 2024. Characterized by All Road geometry, it is ideal for all types of routes and terrain, from climbs to “Strade Bianche”, from long distances to sprints.

That year a Super National team has been made! It included the gregarious Alfredo Martini, the former World Champions Beppe Saronni (1982) and Moreno Argentin (1986) and Gianni Bugno (who have won the 1991 and 1992 World Championships), as well as Amadori, Ballerini, Bontempi, Cassani, Colage, Gavazzi, Ghirotto and Leali.

In the last of the twenty rounds the Belgian Claude Criquelion places a shot that leaves its mark. However, Fondriest has been reactive, the leg has responded well and he has lined up. They literally have flown away, Fignon has tried to come back from behind and Cassani has acted as a stopper, stopping any attempt by the group to chase.

The Canadian Steve Bauer has swerved to the right, widened his elbow and sent the Belgian Claude Criquelion to the ground, losing his pace. Then, seventy-five meters from the finish line, Fondriest has overtook everyone, becoming world champion, immediately putting his hands on his face in a mixture of joy, emotion, and disbelief. Bauer has been disqualified, Criquelion has reached the finish line at eleventh place pushing his unusable bike.

An historic victory that has marked the beginning of a brilliant career which Fondriest has celebrated in 2024 with the Ronse model, available in two colors arctic white glossy and shadow chameleon glossy, three setups and five sizes.

It is characterized by:
– Superlight frame, made of premium T700 + T800 and M40J carbon fiber with a comfort lay-up structure;
– UD external lay-up and space for 32 mm covers;
– Fully integrated wiring;
– Di2 and AXS ready, with monocoque carbon handlebar (only available in higher configurations);
– Tubeless ready carbon wheels.
